Today while mountain biking, I came across Bob. Bob was riding with his son. He was very friendly and happy. He immediately asked for my name and shook my hand.
Bob went on to tell me he was part of the original Montain Bike Mafia, and was present and helped when the flag was placed at the top of the Luge (pictured) nearly 30 years ago.
Bob also shared his son was killed while downhill mountain bike racing. He didn't complain about this, ever after I shared my sympathies for his loss. In fact he boasted about his son's mountain biking prowess, instead.
Bob broke his hip some years ago and can barely stand up. But be damned if that was going to stop him. At 81 (yes, 81), he still rides his electric mountain bike in the Santa Ana Mountains.
Bob's son couldn't stop laughing and smiling, and confirmed, yes, Bob was always this positive, friendly and happy. Even at 81 years old.
Not only is Bob an inspiration, he's an example we should all strive towards. He doesn't complain, he doesn't bitch and he doesn't make excuses.
So remember; we hit what we aim at. If you're looking for things to be the victim of, for things to complain about, or things to justify your shitty attitude and poor performance, you will find them. And if you're looking for inspiration, positivity and things to be stoked on, you WILL also find them.
The choice is yours.
Let's all be like Bob.
Cheers to waking up everyday stoked AF,
Chris
