There is Nothing to Fix

I've been running into this conversation a lot lately. The idea that there is something about us that needs fixing or improving. This is not the case, and here is your freedom from it.
Begin by trying this: Letting go of the idea that things are right and wrong or good or bad. Start to consider things are what they are, with no inherent meaning, other than the meaning we give them based on our addiction to the idea that things need to be categorized right, wrong, good, bad. I encourage everyone to remove judgment and focus on what's working and what's not working. For example, I want to be a New York Times best selling author, but I procrastinate my writing. There's nothing inherently wrong with my procrastinating; it's not good or bad, however it does not work or align with my personal commitment of being a best selling author. Therefor, I would say, there is an unworkability in my procrastination. (What's important to get is that I never say to myself, "Chris you are a procrastinator." I just say what's really happening, simply that I procrastinate my writing.)
A few nights ago I was having a conversation with a friend, who during the course of a break-up was told they needed to fix something about them self, i.e. be someone/thing different, in order to have something meaningful (I won't even get into how we put our values on other people and hold them unfairly hostage to them).
Here's why this doesn't work. When we stand in, in order to, we instantly create a life that is 100% unavailable to us. So, in order to have (name it), I need to be more/less (name it). It's the, in order to, that robs of us of presence and possibility. It's like some twisted psychological and spiritual debt we bury ourselves in, owed to some future version of ourselves, that holds our presence hostage! I'm here to tell you, THIS DOES NOT WORK.
The personal cost of this ego trickery is love, peace, happiness and gratitude RIGHT NOW. These are all available to you RIGHT NOW. Like in this very instant. Step out of, in order to, and stand in, the version of me RIGHT NOW is exactly who I am supposed to be RIGHT NOW.
Not until you do this will you be able to see what's fully possible. Ever feel stuck? This is often times the culprit. Stop putting your life on hold for next week, next month and next year. Start living it right now! I need (name it), in order to, be happy, be fulfilled, have fun, have meaning, have a great relationship is absolute and total bullshit. Let it go.
Here is another limiter in, in order to. We get so focused on where we need to be (the future), our blinders have us missing where we might really need to be! When we're in, in order to, we miss the messages guiding us to our real true potential and calling.
There is no power in punishing the current version of yourself for some future payoff. Read that again. And again. All that exists is who we are in each moment, and in each moment, we have a choice of who we are going to be. You can choose right now to give up old patterns and way of being that do not serve you. You can choose to accept and love yourself as someone is exactly where they need to be and who they need to be RIGHT NOW.
Want the extra-credit? When we can find this peace and love for ourselves, the rest of the world starts to show up as being exactly as it needs to be and people start to show up as being exactly who they need to be. When we let go of judgement of ourselves, when we stop trying to fix ourselves, we lose judgement and stop trying to fix others and our experiences. Now that's powerful, and people who can do that create very powerful, fulfilling lives.
Cheers to waking up every morning stoked AF,
Mas
